Town of Dillon Soap Box Derby

June 8 & 9, 2007

The 12th Annual Soap Box Derby will be held at the Town of Dillon on June 8 & 9, 2007. The Dillon Soap Box Derby sees kids between the ages of 8 and 17 participating in the races.

On Friday (6/8/07), the racer check-in, car inspection and impound will take place between 11 am and 5pm at the Lake Dillon Firehouse by the park at Dillon Town Hall. At 6pm, a Champion's Dinner will be held at Dillon Marina. The Official Derby Race begins at 9.30am on Saturday morning (6/9/07).

The Soap Box Derby is a youth soapbox car racing program which has been run nationally since 1934. The soapbox car is a motorless vehicle capable of holding a driver (usually a child) built for the purpose of racing or recreation. Propelled by gravity, the soapbox cart can reach upwards of 30 miles per hour!
