On Saturday, January 26, Beaver Creek will host the Talons Challenge for skiers and snowboarders of all ages. The goal is to defeat 13 of the resort’s most challenging black and double-black diamond runs and 23,722 vertical feet in one day on Saturday. Nearly 1,000 participants are expected for the annual event along with music, aid stations offering snacks and drinks, and prize giveaways including a trip for two to Lech-Zurs, Austria. The Challenge will take place on the bumps and steeps on the legendary World Cup Birds of Prey Downhill course, in Larkspur Bowl and on the flanks of Grouse Mountain. Some runs will be groomed, including the World Cup trail. Those who finish the Challenge in one day on Saturday, January 26 will earn a collector’s Talon’s hat, lanyard, a free bratwurst and a beer or soda. There will also be an A’ Prey Party at the umbrella bar at Red Trail Camp from 2-4p.m. for music and prizes. This event is free and open to advanced level skiers and snowboarders of all ages. You must present a valid lift ticket or pass. Registration takes place from 8:30a.m.-11:00a.m. on Saturday at the Talons tent at the base of the Centennial lift in Beaver Creek Village and also on the mountain at Red Tail Camp.
