Mark Your Calendars: 16th Annual Trick or Treat Trot
Returns Oct. 31 for
Halloween
Ghosts, goblins, fairies, princesses and superheros will parade the streets of Vail Village and LionsHead from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 during the Vail Recreation District's (VRD) annual Trick or Treat Trot. In its 16th year, children ages infant to 10 years old are invited to participate in this Halloween celebration that offers safe trick-or-treating for children and parents. The annual Trick or Treat Trot coloring contest is also underway with contest information available by clicking here, or at local preschools and schools in Vail.
 
Over 300 children participate in this annual event and businesses are encouraged to have treats ready as these constumed-children parade the villages.

Jumpin' Gym Kids
9:40 to 11 a.m., Tuesdays for Children at Vail Child Care Center.
12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Wednesdays for Children at Children's Garden of Learning.

Jumpin' Gym Kids takes place at the Vail Gymnastics Center and Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium. As part of the program, VRD staff picks up children from Vail Childcare and Children's Garden of Learning and then transports them (via van) to gymnastics at the Gymnastics Center and/or to physical education at Red Sandstone Elementary School. Programs alternate weekly. Informational fliers are available at these two schools. To register, contact your child's teacher(s) Please tell us whether your child needs a booster seat with seat-belt (over 40 lbs) or a child seat with a 5-point harness (under 40 lbs). KZUKidZone After-School Program, 2:45 to 5:45 p.m., Monday- Friday
The VRD's KidZone is in full swing offering a variety of after school activities. The VRD is excited to offer the following enrichment programs in addition to regular homework help, arts and crafts and group games.

Edwards Elementary School
Wednesday: Inyodo Martial Arts - $20/ 8 Weeks
Thursday: Art with Ms. Ikoniak- Free
Friday: Computer Lab- Free
 
Red Sandstone Elementary School
Monday: Fencing with Don Watson- $20/8 weeks
Tuesday: Science Activities- Free
Wednesday: Martial Arts with Matthew Bayley- $20/8 weeks
Thursday: Cooking Activities- Free
 
The VRD received a grant from BrightStart that has assisted in providing these activities for free or at a reduced cost.
 
Attention Red Sandstone Elementary School Parents:
Would your child be interested in fencing? If so, would Monday, Tuesday or either work best for you? Let us know by calling 479-2292 or e-mail us at youthservices@vailrec.com.

Vail's science and discovery center, the Imagination Station is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday though Friday throughout the off-season. Drop by to play and learn with VRD staff. The VRD is currently working on new exhibits and playscapes for children to enjoy. Winter season hours will resume in December.
