Vail Recreation District Youth Services Update

Trick or Treat Trot Returns Friday Featuring Annual Costume Parade
Children ages infant to age 10, and their families, are invited to join the Vail Recreation District (VRD) from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday (10-31) and trick or treat throughout Vail Village and LionsHead. VRD staff will be available at the LionsHead main bus stop and near the Covered Bridge in Vail Village with balloons, trick or treat bags and lists of participating merchants. Prizes and results from the coloring contest also will be available at the Trick or Treat Trot or following Friday's event at the Imagination Station. This is the 16th year for the VRD's Halloween celebration with over 300 children having participated in past events.
 
Also, join the Vail Public Library at 1 p.m. for Halloween Story Hour prior to the costume parade.

November Discovery Bunch Session Kicks Off Monday, Nov. 3
The weekly Discovery Bunch program takes place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday and Thursdays and enables pre-schoolers to play, listen to stories, create art projects, sing songs and discover new experiences in a small, structured setting.  Discovery Bunch activities are based on books read each week and relate to a daily theme. There are a nice group of core children planning to participate throughout the winter. Bring your young one to the Bunch and join in on a drop-in basis or make a monthly commitment. Mondays include skating at Dobson Arena and Thursdays include gymnastics at the Vail Gymnastics Center. Click here for details. (Includes lunch.)

KidZone Offers Thanksgiving School's Out Camp
The VRD Youth Services will offer School's Out Camp on Wednesday Nov. 26 and Monday, Dec. 1.

    Age:                             5 (and in Kindergarten) to 12
    Cost:                            $46 or $36 for Eagle County Students
    Drop Off:                      7:30 - 9 a.m.
    Pick Up:                        4 - 5:30 p.m.

Imagination Station Annual Season Opening Party, Nov. 8
The Imagination Station, Vail's learning and discovery center, will celebrate its annual season opening party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 to showcase new exhibits. Located in the LionsHead parking structure above Subway, the Imagination Station offers children ages 2 through 12 a wide array of hands-on science and art activities such as a black-light room where children can capture their shadows, toddler play area and "science of sound" exhibits. The season opening party will highlight new displays and activities for children and include prizes from KidSPORT, free food from Pazzo's Pizza and Subway and special games and challenges. Winter season hours will resume Dec. 1 and will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday, closed on Saturdays. For details call 970-479-2292.
