Vail Recreation District’s Youth Services Update

VRD Youth Services include KidZone Winter Break School's Out Camp, After School Programs, and Holiday Events for the entire family!

The VRD Youth Services will offer winter break School's Out Camp Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 for children ages five to 12, or grades kindergarten through fifth. Camp will take place Monday through Friday at Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium with drop-off from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and pick-up from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $46 per student or $36 for Eagle County students. No camps are scheduled Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Activities will include:

    Dec. 22: Fencing and decorating candles
    Dec. 23: Snowshoe/cross country skiing and painting animal faces
    Dec. 24: Gymnastics and creating gingerbread houses
    Dec. 26: Visiting the Nature Center and making snowman pins
    Dec. 29: Swimming
    Dec. 30: Winter carnival and sledding
    Dec. 31: Martial arts and creating mosaic bottles
    Jan. 2: Visiting the Imagination Station and decorating T-shirts

Reservations and pre-payment required. Call 479-2292 to reserve a space.

KidZone Afterschool Programs
2:30 to 5:45 p.m. Monday - Friday

Children ages 5 through 12 or grades kindergarten through fifth can join the VRD Youth Services staff for active play, snack, group games, homework help, arts and crafts and free play every afternoon at Red Sandstone and Edwards Elementary Schools. Cost is $15 per drop-in or a discounted 10-day punch card is available. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations are required. Call 479-2292 for details.

Holiday Events for the Entire Family
Events and activities are taking place throughout the holiday season at VRD facilities, including:

    * Free Santa's Workshop from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Imagination Station in ShowTime SkatingLionsHead. The workshop is for children ages two to 10 and their families and will include pictures with Santa, children's gift making, holiday treat making, free hot coco and apple cider and more. Pet owners also can bring their pets and have photos taken with Santa during the workshops. Call 479-2292 for details.
    * Skate with Santa, 5:45 p.m. Dec. 22-23 at Dobson Ice Arena. Call 479-2271 for details.
    * Chanukah on Ice, 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 24 at Dobson Ice Arena. Call 476-7887 for details.
    * Society of Superheroes on Ice, an ice skating extravaganza beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 27-28 at Dobson Ice Arena. Costs is $7 for children and $15 for adults. Call 479-2271 for details.
