Vail’s Legendary China Bowl to Open for 20th Season On Thursday, Dec. 11

Vail Mountain announced today that operations crews will expand terrain and lift offerings beginning Thursday, Dec. 11 and increasing throughout the weekend. By Saturday, Dec. 13, Vail will have more than 4,000 acres of terrain and 25 lifts open to the public, including terrain in the legendary China Bowl, opening for its 20th season, portions of Tea Cup and Siberia Bowls and Blue Sky Basin. Early season conditions still exist and guests are advised to ski with caution, obey posted closures and abide by the Responsibility Code for their safety and the safety of other guests. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 the following lifts and portions of nearly 3,500 acres of terrain in these areas will open for the 2008-2009 ski season:

    * Avanti Express Lift (Chair 2)
    * Wildwood Express Lift (Chair 3)
    * Mountaintop Express Lift (Chair 4)
    * High Noon Lift (Chair 5)
    * Game Creek Express Lift (Chair 7)
    * Born Free Express Lift (Chair 8)
    * Highline Lift (Chair 10)
    * Northwoods Express Lift (Chair 11)
    * Sourdough Express Lift (Chair 14)

    * Gopher Hill Lift (Chair 12)
    * Little Eagle Lift (Chair 15)
    * Vista Bahn Express Lift (Chair 16)

    * Sun Up Lift (Chair 17)
    * Eagle Bahn Gondola (Lift 19)

    * Cascade Village Lift (Chair 20)
    * Orient Express Lift (Chair 21)
    * Pride Express Lift (Chair 26)
    * Tea Cup Express Lift (Chair 36)

    * 4 Beginner Surface Lifts (at Eagle’s Nest, LionsHead and Golden Peak)

The Riva Bahn Express Lift (Chair 6) will be open Friday, Dec 12 followed by Blue Sky Basin’s Skyline Express Lift (Chair 37) and Pete’s Express Lift (Chair 39) on Saturday, Dec. 13, bringing Vail’s total open terrain up to more than 4,000 acres.
