Aspen Snowmass’s 2009 Bud Light Big Air Fridays

This Friday will kick off the eight-week series of Bud Light Big Air Fridays. The competition is from 2-3pm on Snowmass Fanny Hill, followed by the Double Diamond Band performing in Base Village from 3-4:30pm. There will be great crowd giveaway during the competition including Salomon skis or snowboard!  Don’t miss the fireworks over Fanny Hill at 7pm to bring in the weekend! Big Air Fridays will continue every Friday Feb 13 – April 3.

Schedule of Events for the Bud Light Big Air Fridays

12:30pm - 1:30pm - Competitor registration at the registration tent on Fanny Hill.

1:00pm - 2:00pm - Course is open for practice to registered competitors with bibs.

2:00pm - 2:40pm - Bud Light Big Air Jam Session Competition on Fanny Hill .

2:45pm - 3:00pm - Bud Light Big Air Finals. The top four skiers and top four snowboarders from the Jam Session will move into the finals. Each finalist will be judged on a one run final.
The top three will win a cash prize.

3:00pm - 4:30pm - Live Music in Snowmass Base Village.

Our 4th Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert featuring GALACTIC will take place Sunday, Feb 15 at 6:30pm in Snowmass Base Village. This funky outfit that started over a decade ago in New Orleans and just released their sixth album From the Corner to the Block. The dynamic sounds within their performance will certainly bring da funk to Snowmass on Sunday night!

OK, SO HERE’S A RECAP…
Where:  Snowmass, on Fanny Hill. Spectators will witness a variety of high-flying antics displayed by the best new school fliers in Aspen/Snowmass, as skiers and snowboarders launch from the big air jump on Fanny Hill.

Competitor registration:  Registration takes place on the day of the event between 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. on Fanny Hill at the base of the jump. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 20 skiers and 20 snowboarders. The entry fee is $20 per event (cash or check only). The competition is open to pros or amateurs of all ages. Competitors under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present at registration to sign a waiver.  Helmets are required.

Competition Format:  There will be a forty minute jam session beginning at 2 p.m.  The judges will choose four skiers and four snowboarders from the Jam Session to continue on into the finals.  Judges will choose the athletes based on over-all impression. The finalists will have one jump and then be placed according to best-trick. Competitors must wear bibs
on their body throughout the competition. Competitors must wear helmets on Venue.

Week Prize money: $1050 of prize money will be
awarded at each competition.
