Breckenridge implements free parking after 3 p.m. to bolster in-town business

Breckenridge, Colo. – March 13, 2009 – The Town of Breckenridge (TOB) and Breckenridge Resort Chamber (BRC) today announced “Free at 3”, free parking after 3 p.m. in all Town of Breckenridge and Breckenridge Ski Resort pay parking lots for the remainder of the 2009 ski season.

“We are hoping the free parking will help capture the après ski crowd and bring them into our historic downtown to experience the unique shops, restaurants and culture,” said Joe Staufer, Breckenridge Police Department sergeant.

In conjunction with “Free at 3”, local retail shops, bars, restaurants and lodging properties are also offering some “Hot Deals” for patrons to come and enjoy downtown Breckenridge after spending the day on the slopes.

“This is a great example of collaboration between the BRC, Town and Ski Resort to help further stimulate local business during challenging economic times,” said John McMahon, executive director for the Breckenridge Resort Chamber.

Parking lots that are free in town after 3 p.m. include the Gondola North, Gondola South, Wellington Lot, F-Lot, East Sawmill Lot and Tiger Dredge Lot. All other parking restrictions will remain the same.
