| June 17, 2008 | | Come-out to the first of the 2008 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running series, Colorado’s premier trail running series and enjoy all the festivities. | It will be an evening of running, fun and live music at Beaver Creek. Enjoy music by All Strung Out and feast on Moe’s barbecue after you race the La Sportiva Summer Solstice Race. Festivities start at 6:00 p.m. with the RTP Kids Fun Run and at 6:30 p.m. the First Bank 5 Kilometer Run and the more challenging 10-kilometer race will head out on the trails at Beaver Creek Resort. There is free parking at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain or in the parking garages at the Mountain. Registration for the events begins at 5:00 p.m. at Beaver Creek Village. The entry fee is $35 in advance and $45 on race day. The kids’ fun run is free. Proceeds benefit Vail Valley Charitable Fund.
The races start at the base of Chair 6 located just west of Beaver Creek Village and run on single track and cat track trails to include BC Village Trail, Aspen Glade, Lost Buck Spur, and Corkscrew. The 5-kilometer route gains 811 feet while the 10-kilometer boasts 1,535 feet in elevation gain.
