General and specific comments about CME during the New Year's closure of I-70

This is the second year we have traveled with CME and the experience has been good, and the drivers entertaining (and professional). Our shuttle to Breck on the morning of Dec. 31 was canceled because of the snow/wind causing the closure of I-70. I immediately called CME to make new plans. The telephone delay was reasonable given the magnitude of the effect on travel. The rep I talked to was pleasant and efficient. She offered to put our names down for travel at 6:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. if the road opened by then. We chose 6:30. When it became apparent during the afternoon that the shuttle probably (but not yet certainly) would not be making the trip, I again called CME. The person I talked to was much less knowledgeable saying I could not make any changes over the phone! Obviously, we wanted an early morning shuttle for Jan. 1. She would not put our names on a list for the next day without charging us for a new reservation, even though CME likely could not fulfill its obligation that day. Because our short vacation was at stake, I agreed and my MasterCard was charged according. We had already pre-paid for the round-trip originally scheduled (Dec. 31 and Jan. 5).
So we rode the shuttle on Jan. 1 and returned on Jan. 5 (our original reservation for the return trip). I spoke to the rep at the airport counter about the situation. He looked at his computer and said the original Dec. 31 trip had been "canceled". OK. However, we were in a hurry, and he was a bit confused about our story and he implied that the cancellation equated with a credit of the original payment for Dec. 31 since the trip was not made on that day but instead was taken and paid for separately on the next day.
I'm sure anyone reading this knows that the original MasterCard charge is still there -- no credit was issued as of Jan. 9. So we paid twice to take one shuttle ride to Breck. I'll save this and eventually write to the executives of CME (and hopefully will not have to get MasterCard involved) hoping they will straighten it out.
Very disgruntled

My last ride on CME was in April of 2007. Ipicked it up in Frisco at 1:15 in the afternoon. We jumped out of the car, the driver shoved my suitcase in the back, shuffled around a few passengers then told me to get in and he closed the door and took off. Because the second row of seats is shorter, there reallyisn't room for 3 adults, one very overwieght There was no way I could get a seatbelt on and I spent the entire ride just trying to hold on so I wouldnt fall off. The heavy man keptquestioning the driver about whether we were going to make his flight, while the driver talked to the skinny cute girl in the front seat. This trip I will make sure I am buckled up before we drive away and that there is room for everyone. Put the big people in the front seat! When I contacted CME upon my return home I received a credit for a small portion of my fare. Iwill still travel with CME but I am not going to let the van leave until things are right.
Should pay half, for half a seat...

On February 6, my girlfriend and I took your shuttle to Frisco. In the backseat was a petite mother and her 2 children, roughly 2 and 4. The middle row had my girlfriend, the mother's husband, and their infant child, and my row was myself, a gentleman weighing approx. 300-350 lbs and his wife, and the front seat sat a petite older woman. For the near 2 hour trip to Frisco, I sat with half of my body off the seat and the other half squeezed next to this gentleman. Now this could be put into 2 different situations: Why wasn't the large gentleman in the front seat OR why did the 3 smallest people have the large backseat to themselves. Now, I am not blaming it on either the mother or the larger gentleman, but I do feel like the driver, Aaron, should have said something. It makes sense for me to pay $$22.50 instead of $45 for that trip because I had only half a seat. I think that the driver should have taken it into his hands to look back and make sure everyone was comfortable: noticing I was falling off my seat and the 3 smallest people in the back could have fit 2 of me. I think that this situation was handled poorly and this was quite a horrible trip.

Please consider changing your pickup location in Carbondale to the new RFTA Park and Ride lot on Hwy 133 - just a couple blocks from the Cowen Center. I left my car in the Days Inn lot for the weekend and got a nasty note from the hotel, but I didn't really have a choice since I don't have anyone to drop me off and pick me up.

ALso, I fell asleep on the way back from DIA - sorry , because I could have reminded Byron to stop at Edwards to visit The Mother Ship. I guess he got confused with Eagle - he is a young guy. Anyway, I enjoy using CME.

Betsy Bashant
Carbondale
Carrying of skibags in the seating area of the coach is not safe.

On Saturday 16th March 2008, I was a passenger on a CME coach from Breckenridge to Denver Airport at 05:45. the coach was full and a number of skibags were being loaded, more than could be housed in the external bag holder at the rear of the coach. The driver proceded to load 2 skibags on to the floor of the passenger compartment, in front of the exit door. I raised the safety issue with him that no one could easily escape from the vehicle in the event of an emergency evacuation and that alternative arrangements should be made to transport the additional skibags. He responded by saying that this was common practice and had no personal concerns. He did, however, raise the issue with his manager, who informed him that there was no other way these skis could be transported. In the end, I had to accept that this unsafe system was employed. Others in the coach agreed with me. I appreciate that I was a visitor to your country and that you may have different safety rules from those in UK, although I always thought the USA and UK had similar safety standards. Surely if you are transporting passengers to ski resorts, it is reasonable to assume that they may all potentially have skis, and as such, your vehicles should be equipped to carry all their luggage safely.

Fantastic Service!

I was picked up by CME on 4/17 at 3:05p for shuttle service from The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch to the Denver Airport. Upon entering the van, I notified the driver, Chuck, that I was 3 months pregnant and might get a little queasy on the way down. He said he'd have a full load and recommended I sit in the front seat. What should have been a 2 hour drive, turned into a 6.5 hour drive due to the snow storm that began as soon as we hit the highway (I was really grateful for having the front seat). And I'm from Chicago, so I am no stranger to snow, but I was silently terrified by being stuck in the mountains in a snow storm! Passing the jack-knifed trucks and stalled cars didn't help. Then to make matters worse, we heard on the radio that there was a 25 car accident near the tunnel so traffic was a disaster and they were recommending people stay off the roads. As I looked at the edge of the highway, with nothing separating the end of the road and the mountains at times, I finally expressed my nervousness. Chuck assured me that we would be fine. There was even a frequent rider who vowed for his driving skills and said we were in very good hands. I felt much better. Every so often, Chuck would put his hand on the arm of the passenger seat and ask if I was okay. After communicating that I may have to use the bathroom in a bit, he assured me he would stop at a rest stop after traffic began to move. My husband (in Atlanta) and parents (in Chicago) called my cell phone periodically to see how I was doing. Each time I communicated that "Chuck" was taking great care of me, as well as the other six ladies on the bus. After we made it through the tunnel, Chuck stopped at a rest stop so we could relieve ourselves. When we finally made it to Denver, he dropped the ladies at the airport and was nice enough to drop me at my hotel on Tower Road. Instead of handing me my bags to go into the hotel, he actually carried them in to the front desk and verified the time the restaurant closed next door so I could get something to eat. I was blown away! I only had $10 cash in my purse, but if I had more, I would have given him everything! To have a total stranger take care of me in the manner Chuck did during such a scary situation, was priceless. My family and I are truly grateful and wanted to commend Chuck for not only being great at what he does, but for being an angel of a human being. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like him. Please thank him on my behalf. Sincerely, Keisha Echols :-)
